COMMITTEE

The composition of committee are made up of playing and non playing members of the club. Please scroll down for more information

Bill.jpg

BILL SELSDON

PRESIDENT

Bill played for the club for many years before taking on the role as Team Secretary. After years of service, he has recently become club President. Bill is a great link between who the club was and how it has evolved and is full of stories of Pilgrims young and old.

JULIAN STEED

TREASURER

Meet our Treasurer, policy writer, chief fundraiser and ACO Umpire Julian Steed. Julian is the heartbeat of the club and keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes. He is also a Buckland local (we are actually based in Buckland, not Betchworth) and @the_red_lion_betchworth is his local pub. He can often be seen walking home across the outfield having had a couple of drinks after a game, alongside club mascot Jessie. Whilst we might question his umpiring decisions and groan when he chases us for match fees, we wouldn’t swap him for the world

Rajesh-Com_edited.jpg

RAJESH JANARDANAN

CAPTAIN

Rajesh is now a very established member of the club and is entering his third year as skipper. On the field he is full of effervescence. He is also an expansive opening batsman. After matches, he has a particular penchant for a cheeky tequilla shot, alongside vice captain DK

Woody - Com 2_edited.jpg

MICHAEL WOOD

COMMITTEE MEMBER &
SAFEGUARDING OFFICER

Another former captain and committee member, Woody has been part of the club since 2006. He was introduced to the club by Guy's brother Mark and has been bowling his medium paced up and down for the club ever since. Nicknames include Buzz, Plank by former captain Rob Burnside, and when bowling vice captain Miles will often shout, ‘well bowled Guy!’

Penny-Com_edited.jpg

Penelope Atkinson

COMMITTEE MEMBER &
SCORER

Penelope is our long time scorer, ever present at all our matches. She is often to be found under the tree on edge of the pitch trying to find out the bowler's name! We cannot think what we would do without her.

David.jpg

DAVID BATY

CHAIRMAN

David was an active member of the club for many years as a player before taking on his current role as Chairman. He played a key part in representing the club on our Tour to India in 2013. Although now an occasional player, is still a central part of the club, both internally and amongst the wider community.

Pinak-Com_edited.jpg

PINAK SAIKIA

SECRETARY & TEAM SECRETARY

Pinak Saikia @pinsaikia has been a stalwart of the club for over 15 years and is our Secretary and Team Secretary. Which means if you fancy a game, let Pin know! Contact him via the contact page, email pinak.saikia@outlook.com or call him on 07584 499699. Look at that friendly face, why wouldn’t you want a chat!

Guy-Com_edited.jpg

GUY MITCHELL

FIXTURE SECRETARY

Fixture Secretary Guy Mitchell has been a member of the Pilgrims since childhood, as his father also played for the club. Guy is known to many clubs around the area due to his role and does a great job every year to ensure that we play teams with the same love of cricket and the way it is played that we have. Guy is surprisingly quick still considering he is now in his 40s, and with the bat, when he hits it, it stays hit!

DK and Jessie.jpg

DILUCKSHAN KANAGARAJAH

VICE CAPTAIN & COMMITTEE MEMBER

DK, as everybody knows him, was introduced to the club by Pinak. Part of the 'Tequilla Twins' with skipper Rajesh, DK is now firmly established in the team. His big hitting can take games away from opponents and he is nightmare to captain against as he hits the ball into the most unusual areas. Great friends with Jess the dog and chief lift giver to Penelope, DK is a thoroughly decent bloke.

Scotty-Com_edited.jpg

SCOTT BURGESS

COMMITTEE MEMBER

Senior pro on the field, chief mischief maker off it, anyone who has played with us or against us will know Scotty. A former captain who knows his cricket inside out, Scotty always provides great advice for new skippers, as well as being centre of fun for everyone else. He makes a mean lunch as well, alongside wife Louise @louiseburgess62. A lot of people think Pilgrims and think Scotty and he is the heartbeat of the club

Jessie - Christmas Day 2018 modifired 2_edited.jpg

Jessie

CLUB MASCOT

My name is Jessie and I have been the chief mascot for the club since 2014. I love to chase after cricket balls and love a pint (of water) at the Red Lion.
